Elizabeth Glaser, an AEPhi sister from the University of Wisconsin,
required a blood transfusion after giving birth to her daughter, Ariel,
in 1981. The blood was tainted with the HIV virus, and she unknowingly
passed the disease to Ariel and later, to her son, Jake. Elizabeth
founded the Pediatric AIDS Foundation, which was honored with her
name after her death in 1994. The Foundation funds scientific
research for children afflicted with HIV.
