What happens at the District Level

Seven of the 32 dollars we each pay goes to our District. The district is a large part of CKI because of its policy role and service in unifying our clubs through district events. Without the District, many of the conflicts that arise would not be able to be easily be solved. The District Board is comprised of a governor, a secretary treasurer, an editor, the LTGs for each division, and the committee chairs. The committee chairs do not vote, and the governor only votes in the case of the tie. The voting unit is the DST, the editor, and the LTGs, with the governor serving as mediator. As a board, the district regulates policy, balances the budget, and considers future direction. However, probably most important to you is their role in oversight at the club level. It is through the LTGs that CKI ensures that clubs do not fall to pieces when a strong leading force leaves the club with no person to fill the power void. It is the LTGs that help coerce us all into service and keep the organization running.

So what is our Division?

In case you didn't get it from the video, or if the video has been taken down, we are part of the Battlefield Division, which contains the colleges of Bowie State University, the University of Maryland, and Mt. St. Mary's University. We are an odd shaped District (highlighted in yellow), which you can see in our picture below. The University of Maryland has had a member serve as LTG for the past 5 terms, so lets keep up our leadership in the Division!
