Why become a member?

The Charles R. Drew Pre-Med Society is committed to serve the pre-medical students of University of Maryland College Park. Although it is open to all students, our main focus is to serve the minority community interested in the field of health and medicine. Our society is a diverse group with different ethnical backgrounds and cultures. All students bring something special to the group.
There are many benefits in being active with the society:

  • You gain knowledge and leadership skills
  • You get more information about opportunities for research, internships, fellowships, summer programs, MCAT preparation programs, and much more!
  • You may also have one on one interaction with medical school admission officers. Also you have the opportunity to visit medical schools, and find out about their requirements.
  • You also have the benefit to gain volunteer service experience, "serving the underserved".
  • You will be added to the University's CRD Membership List and receive a membership card.
  • You are not alone!

All the nice, fun, and VERY STRESSFUL science classes with crazy professors that you are going through, others have gone through it. We are a community of students with dreams.

HOW DO I BECOME A MEMBER?
If you are interested in becoming a member, there are three simple steps to follow:

  1. You must attend at least two Community Service Events
  2. You must attend at least three events for the semester (check calendar).
  3. After an invitation has been made to you, accept to become a member.

We expect for your involvement in this society to be a great experience for you, and you will gain plenty of knowledge to become a better candidate for medical school or any graduate school you might plan to go. GOOD LUCK!
