About DC OutfittersAll you need to join is a little compassion, understanding, and a willingness to help. DCO is a non-profit, student-run organization at the University of Maryland, College Park aimed at helping the homeless community in the DC area by providing them with clothing, toiletries, and sometimes food. If you are looking to gain community service hours, or if you are interested in helping the homeless community, we suggest you take a look at the links on this website or contact one of our officers for more information. DC Outfitters is a low-obligation student organization, and everybody is welcome to join us on our trips. We make about five trips a semester to the Federal Triangle area in DC, where we split into groups and distribute clothes along four routes. Feel free to take a look at our trip details for more specific information. Alumnus Brian Christopher founded D.C. Outfitters when he was an undergrad at George Mason University. Once he graduated, he entered an MBA program at the University of Maryland in 1995. He met Brian Buschman, a campus freshman. Together with about 15 other students, they formed Maryland’s chapter of D.C. Outfitters in the fall of 1995. DC Outfitters is always willing to accept clothing donations, as the organization could not achieve its mission without your generosity. If you have unwanted clothes and would like to help, please DONATE them. |
