It is with sincere pleasure and gratitude that I welcome you to the website of the Kappa Phi Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated.
On January 13, 1913, twenty-two young women dared to incept the Sorority that would change the face of the collegiate African American Woman. On this day, they became the first Sorority for African American women to pledge themselves to the ideals of Sisterhood, Scholarship and Public Service.
Courageously adorned in the beloved Crimson and Cream, these 22 dynamic women emitted a light that would quicken and inspire national and international communities for over 93 years. 61 years and 13 days later, the Eleven from Heaven continued this legacy and chartered the Kappa Phi Chapter at the University of Maryland - College Park.
Please enjoy your visit to the Kappa Phi website as you journey through the foundation of Delta Sigma Theta and the Kappa Phi legacy. Here in Kappa Phi, we earnestly strive to attain and maintain the vision of our 22 illustrious Founders. We received the coveted President’s Cup for the Pan Hellenic Council from the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life, Greek Organization of the Year from the Nyumburu Cultural Center, and a Certificate of Recognition for Excellence in Programming at the Eastern Region Awards at the 48th National Convention if Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
This year, we have a number of memorable events planned that directly and positively affect our surrounding community as well as aligning our political endeavors with issues that face the African American community while continuing to dedicate ourselves to public service.
Please continue to check our website for updates, look out for fliers on campus, and feel free to ask any Kappa Phi Soror about upcoming programs and events.
