Jackie Congedo
Musical Director

AKA: Cousin It
Years in Faux Paz: Since Fall 2003
Year in College: Senior
Comments: Jackie is a third year broadcast journalism major. What does that mean? She has NO IDEA what she’s gonna do with the rest of her life, and she’s trying to delay the inevitable. Jackie grew up on a farm in How-weird County, Maryland and, needless to say, the adjustment when she moved to College Park was one of the more difficult she’s encountered. Jackie enjoys speaking Spanish and trying new things (cough cough). She’s been known to hang out with that really tall guy in the Generics. Hmmm… and she hates singing.

Webmaster

Years in Faux Paz:
Since Fall 2005
Year in College: Junior
Least Favorite Inanimate object: Wooden Benches (long story)
Favorite Movie: Hackers (Don't worry most people don't know it)
Favorite Tissue: Puffs with Aloe
Shtick: After suffering rejection at the hands of the Faux Paz in the fall of '04, Jesse became a vagrant commonly seen walking College Park at night. Following numerous run-ins with the law and a brief stint in rehab, Jesse fled the country. Finally he found solace out east in the form of a Tibetan monastery. One morning while practicing his mantra, Jesse heard the sweet sounds of a cappella fill the room and it was in that moment that he realized what he had to do. So he flew home and with phenomenal luck it was audition time yet again. Following a much needed nap and meal, Jesse finally fulfilled his dream… of winning the super bowl, woops wrong bio. Anyway, he would like to thank you for listening to (or reading) his story and reminds you to FEAR THE NUBBIN!!

Perry Gorelik

Years in Faux Paz: Since Fall 2004
Year in College: Senior
AKA: The Perry J
Hometown: Columbia, MD
Favorite Color: Green
Favorite Vegetable: Celery
Favorite Toothpaste: Crest, mint with Scope Mouthwash
Favorite Profile: Hello, friends! I'm an art history and art studio double major here at the home of the Terps. I love me some professional and collegiate sports, especially the Orioles and Maryland Basketball. I love nearly all types of music and I might be in love with my oddly-named iPod, Kingsley Zissou. He has a wonderful personality. We're forming a long-lasting friendship, provided I don't break or lose him at McDonalds. I'm also into action, comedic, and classic movies. I'm absolutely ecstatic for my second year with The Legendary Faux Paz Singing Sensation Club. If you get the chance, come check us out. We rock out pretty gosh-diddly-dang hard. Or, give me a THOUSAND DOLLARS. Or just come to our concerts. Either is fine. I'm not picky.

David Gradin

Years in Faux Paz:
Since Fall 2004
Year in College: Senior
Birthday: June 21, 1985
Major: Underwater basket weaving... er... what's a major again??
Favorite Ninja Turtle: Michelangelo
Comments: Hey! It's David Gradin. Woot! David is from Baltimore (unfortunately now resides in Columbia) and has been singing at THE Cathedral in Baltimore since he was eight years old. David is not so much the fan of rap or country music, and ESPECIALLY not chopsticks. No authentic Chinese etiquette for him, no sir. It is David's pleasure to tell you that he was breastfed until the age of nine. No lie. It explains a lot. When not singing with the Super Faux Song Team Extravaganza he can be found unconscious in a ditch or teaching little kids how to act at Slayton House Drama Camp in Columbia with the infamous Perry J. This bio is brought to you by the coolest mamajama this side of the Mississippi.

Amanda Itzko
Business Director

AKA: The barnyard laugher (don't ask)
Years in Faux Paz: Since Fall 2003
Year in College: Senior
Favorite Color: Red
Favorite Movie: Pirates of the Carribean, because Johnny Depp looks hot in eye makeup, and Orlando Bloom is my future husband.
Comments: Amanda is one of the more unique members of the Faux Paz. Her number one talent is weirding everyone out with her freakish laugh that sounds like an asthmatic donkey/ snorting pig. Apart from this, she's actually a very nice girl. She absolutely adores the Faux Paz, and also enjoys singing with the Maryland Chorale (along with Jackie). Her hometown is Chadds Ford, PA, but all you have to know is that its between Philadelphia and Delaware. Other things Amanda enjoys are reading books that no one else likes, the Philadelphia EAGLES!!!!!, and panda bears. Oh, and that cute blonde guy in the Generics. :)

Amanda Jabes

Years in Faux Paz:
Since Fall 2005
Year in College:
Junior
Comments:
Amanda hails from Long Island, New York, where she made her singing debut at the age of 3, performing the entire score of "The Little Mermaid."  Her most recent accomplishments include graduating with honors from the Bartending Academy of NY, and surviving her withdrawal from Ralph's Ices.  When she isn't singing, Amanda can be found in the Delta Phi Epsilon house, hanging out with her roommate Amanda, and teaching her pet fish Blueberry new tricks.  Amanda also loves long walks on the beach.  No.  Really, she does.  Just try to keep up.

Jimmy Leathers
Musical Director

Years in Faux Paz: Since Fall 2004
Year in College: Junior
Favorite Movie: Forrest Gump
Major: English
Comments:  Jimmy is coming to the realization that it's actually pretty tough to come up with witty comments for a website like this.  Something you might be interested to know is that UMd is actually closer to his home than  his high school was-- he's lived in College Park since he was 1 year old.  But he thought it would be a good idea to waste $11,000 of his parents money every year, so he lives on campus.  He enjoys coffee, the Daily Show, U2, and of course the Faux Paz.  Stuff he doesn't enjoy as much includes dining hall food and the dentist.

Sarah Lee

Years in Faux Paz: Since Fall 2005
Year in College: Sophomore
Major: Music Education
Comments: Born in Orange County, California, Sarah also lived in Hawaii and Korea, and has never lived in one place for more than two years.  Currently, Sarah’s hometown is Fairfax, Virginia.  She prides herself on having 63+ bug bites/bee stings at one point, and being able to eat 1 1/2 Chipotle burritos in one sitting.  If Sarah's not in her dorm room watching cartoons, she can easily be found in the CSPAC late into the night, practicing away on the piano.  Besides the awesome Faux Paz, Sarah's also a part of the Intervarsity Christian Fellowship, Maryland Christian Fellowship, and University Chorale.  Oh yeah, Sarah's not too good with cookies/pies/cupcakes etc, just in case you were wondering.  But she can make dolphin noises.

Lauren Levine

Years in Faux Paz:
Since Fall 2003
Year in College: Senior
Favorite Shampoo: Herbal Essences
Favorite Cereal: Cocoa Crisps

Comments:  Buenas tardes, Faux readers.  I'm Lauren, the littlest and formerly-Jewiest of the Faux!  I come from a land called Long Island, where Jews reign supreme.  When not singing my butt off I can be found being the best goshdarn vice president of Sigma Delta Tau ever!  I don't know if you folks have listened to our most awesome CD yet, but the whole thing has been brought to the world by my extremely intelligent and attractive boyfriend, Ari.  By the way, if this profile sucks, blame it on Perry, I'm to lazy to write one myself.

David Lipsitz

AKA:
D-Lips
Years in Faux Paz:
Since Fall 2005
Year in College:
 Sophomore
Comments:
Hi everybody, I'm David Lipsitz, the only Indian Jew in the Faux Paz.  If you stop and think about it, that could also go for the entire Maryland campus.  Anyway, I enjoy hanging out with friends, pickup basketball and football, singing anything, and just generally having a good time.  I am thrilled to be in the Faux Paz and am looking forward to another great year.  I am also a rabid Maryland basketball fan and can be seen behaving like a lunatic in the student section.  Come see the Faux!

Becca Newell

Years in Faux Paz:
Since Fall 2005
Year in College:
Junior
Comments:
Becca was originally born in Sherwood Forest, near Nottingham, England.  Becca and her parents, Robin and Marion, traveled across the pond to escape musical persecution.  They settled in the metropolis of Easton, Maryland, where Becca began her musical career as a back-up singer for Prince.  Her first gig was on the Purple Rain tour, and she also guested on Rick James' "Superfreak."  She has enjoyed the slow-paced life of College Park after years of hectic touring.  Becca enjoys late-night walks around CP, food, white mocha chillers, and spooning.  She wishes to thank Holden for helping with this bio and wants to give a shout-out to KT and Steph!

Daniel Reed

Years in Faux Paz:
Since Fall 2005
Year in College:
Sophomore
Major:
Architecture
Favorite songs:
"Hands Down" by Dashboard Confessional and "Fast Car" by Tracy Chapman
Reason for attending University of Maryland:
Buffalo chicken sandwiches at South Campus Dining Hall
Comments:
Capable of saving a whole busload of people with one verse of Marvin Gaye's "Sexual Healing," Dan Reed has been singing since he was in the womb. When not singing, his favorite pursuits include reading and writing stories and people-watching. Previous occupations have included student-teaching 10th grade English and selling motivational tapes to shoppers at church yard sales. In the future, he would like to architect away most of the world's problems. If the reader thinks that was grammatically incorrect, he is wrong. Dan is euphoric to be a part of the Faux Paz and hopes for many long years of singing with fifteen of the friendliest people in College Park.

Crystal Thomas
Treasurer

Years in Faux Paz:
Since Fall 2005
Year in College: Junior
Major: Psychology
Comments:
Crystal, also known as Cristal (like the fancy alcohol celebrities drink, even though she hates being called that), is a psychology major.  She hopes to break the trend of psychologists becoming crazy... we'll see how that works out.  In her spare time, this former dancer enjoys shaking it in random places and leaping just about anywhere.  She can often be seen washing her hands with pretty-smelling soap and having long phone conversations with her #1 fan, her mom.  She LOVES to sing, especially with the Faux Paz, but is afraid to sing for small groups of people so stop asking please!  K, thanks!  Because of her size zero figure, she tends to shock people with her really loud belt and her ability to eat... like a man.
