The Process-University Charges
Eligibility
Student Defenders assist undergraduate students facing charges from the university. Defenders cannot accompany students to a Preliminary Interview, but they can provide advice before the interview takes place.
Regardless of whether a student has attended a Preliminary Interview, it is helpful to bring all relevant documentation to the first meeting.
What To Expect
Student Defenders hold walk-in hours from 10 am to 4 pm Monday through Friday. Students do not need an appointment for an initial visit; after a Defender has been assigned to the case appointments can be made as needed.
The intake process begins with a discussion of the details surrounding the University Charges. It is important that students are honest and up front about their situation. This will assist the Defender in providing you with recommendations on the best course of action for your case. When representing students before a hearing board, the Student Defenders will seek to ensure the judicial process is fair and impartial.
