MRHC - Competitive
The intercollegiate team competes in the Collegiate Roller Hockey League Mid-Atlantic Region (CRHL-MAR). This region encompasses teams along the east coast from New York to Virginia. These teams, including our Maryland team, travel to "hockey weekends" in cities around the region. The team competes in four games during each of these weekend tournaments. The season runs with three tournaments in the Fall semester and three in the Spring. The team is thereby able to compete in about twenty four games during the season.
Following this, if we qualify, are the CRHL National Championships which will feature the best teams from all around the country. The tournament usually takes place in April and varies in location from year to year.
In addition to the CRHL-MAR, the club is also a member of the ECRHA or Eastern Collegiate Roller Hockey Association which helps to organize collegiate roller hockey teams on the East Coast.
The team is made up of students enrolled at the University of Maryland at College Park. Open try outs are held once a year during the month of September, and players make the team for the course of the year, but must try out again for the following season.
If there is enough interest, the coaches and the president of MRHC are considering putting in a B team because of the growing interest of Roller Hockey at Maryland, and the number of people who have expressed interest in our program. This determination will be made following try-outs.
