Membership Requirements
Primannum Honor Society is an invitation only honor society. We have one
induction each spring, and invitations are mailed early in the spring semester.
Alpha Lambda Delta and Phi Eta Sigma membership is open to all freshmen
and transfer students who meet the following academic qualifications:
- the student must be registered for a full course of study leading to a bachelor's degree
- must rank in the top 20 percent of their freshman class
- obtain the minimum scholastic average required for membership, a 3.5 GPA
Eligibility for freshmen is based on grades from their first semester at
Maryland, or on cumulative average of the first year in college. Eligibility
for transfer students is based only on their first semester grades at UMCP,
not on a cumulative average. Students also must have completed 12 credits
with no D or F in any subject. Once initiated, the student becomes a lifetime
member of Alpha Lambda Delta and Phi Eta Sigma. Members may remain active
in the chapter throughout college. Offices are held by members while they
are sophomores, juniors, or seniors.
All members need to maintain a grade point average of 3.5 or higher throughout
their college careers. If this initial requirement is not met, then the
member is automatically prohibited from receiving cords. In order to receive
honor cords and be considered an active member, members must fulfill point
requirements as specified in the points section for current members.
