Faquier County, VA
Area: Rural (corn fields and homes)
Subject: 60 year old Male
Outcome: Subject found injured, evacuated to hospital
Elkton, MD
Area: Suburban/Rural (housing developments and forest)
Subject: 81 year old Male
Outcome: Search Suspended
Bedford County, PA
Area: State Park
Subject: 12 year old Male
Outcome: Subject found uninjured while PVRG enroute
As the best time of the year for hands-on training, PVRG held summer courses on patient packaging, helicopter operations, firestarting, search management, base setup and operation, vertical rescue, land navigation, and GPS use.
In preparation for the Fall, we developed the semester training schedule and created new training forms for COQ/FTM.
We also worked to make the team better equipped for searches and to prepare for another semester.
Vehicle Committee
PVRG's new Chevy box truck is rapidly becoming an emergency command center and mobile office, as well as workhorse for transporting people and rescue equipment to searches. To this end, PVRG members:
Had Motor Pool perform basic repairs and remove old decals
Added locks, shelves and countertops, dry erase board and corkboard, chair and file cabinets, security door holders, side door handle and grab loop
Removed flaking paint and primed bare areas
Moved administrative materials into cabinets
Developed designs for truck exterior
Began fundraising and electrical system goals
Advertising Committee
PVRG members have made great strides to gain recognition for the team and bring in new members, as they:
Developed posters for displays
Made advertising plans
Designed new fliers
Developed emails
Updated the website
