We're the Quidditch team at the University of Maryland. (Officially, our organization name is the "International Quidditch Association at the University of Maryland" and our team name is "Maryland Quidditch").
All you have to do to join our team is to show up to a practice! (Rosters for travel teams are unfortunately limited in size, but all practices are open to everyone). Anyone is welcome, and feel free to contact us if you have any questions!
Quidditch is a fast-paced, contact, co-ed sport from the Harry Potter book series, in which players run around with brooms between their legs. The UMD team mixes athleticism and whimsy to create a competitive yet quite nerdy community.
The team is hitting the ground running! Practices (the fall schedule) start on Sunday, August 26th! There will not be conditioning sessions held the first week of classes to let everyone ease back into classes and the quidditch lifestyle. If you have any questions, please contact us!
The following are full team practices that take place on McKeldin Mall. Available players are strongly encouraged to meet at the office 30 minutes prior to the practice start time to help carry equipment to the field.
The following times are the office hours for the fall 2012 semester. During these times, an officer will be in the team office (0207H Student Involvement Suite, Stamp Student Union).
More hours will be announced/added soon.The following are conditioning sessions that will usually take place at Cole Field House.
The following is beater practice which takes place on McKeldin Mall. This is completely optional -- attendance at this practice is not mandatory in order to be a beater on the team -- and all players are welcome to attend, regardless of position.
