The Society of African American Studies was established with the sole purpose of enlightening and educating the campus and the surrounding community about African American issues, debates, culture and heritage.

The Society of African American Studies is a student organization that is advised by the of the Department of African American Studies at the University of Maryland. Together we coordinate events and community service activities to further the knowledge and awareness of the African American community on campus and the society at large.

The Society of African American Studies is committed to fulfilling its responsibility of abiding by the University of Maryland student organization policies.
