The Student Archivists at Maryland (SAM) is hosting a Pizza and Archives Alumni Party this coming Thursday, November 30. The event will be held in McKeldin Library Rm 4137 from 6-8:30 pm.

At the event you will eat some pizza and hear from CLIS alum about their current (and former) jobs, how they got there, and advice on career moves and classes! Hear from:

  • Juliette Arai, Archivist for Sen. Ted Stevens (R-Alaska)
  • Tom Eisinger, Archivist for the U.S. Senate
  • Jessica Kaplan, former Archivist at the Jewish Historical Society
  • Jenny Levine, Archivist at the University of Maryland's Historical Manuscripts Division and
  • David McCartney, Archivist at Montgomery County Archives and soon-to-be University of Iowa University Archivist

This week is National Archives Week!

Participate in a SAM roundtable Student involvement in the profession: Field Studies, professional organizations, and conference presentations Tuesday, Oct. 10, 12:30 in the lounge.

MARAC DC Caucus is holding an Archives Fair at the Smithsonian's Ripley Center on Thursday, Oct. 12 from 12:30 to 5:30.
The Archives Fair is an opportunity for people to learn about archival collections in and around DC. Because Washington, DC is our nation's capitol, the collections in the region relate to local, national, and international affairs.
SAM will be leading a group of students downtown to this event - come join us. Show the DC archival community what a strong program we have!
