Minutes: DEC 8th, 2003

Overview of last Friday (Dec 5th)

The presentation was very successful!
John Hyles visited: He will help us write a proposal to get support from companies. We should invite him again in February.

SIFE is a new SUSA organization
Constitution is pretty much done
New benefits (room, budget, etc).

SGA organization
Sakisha will help us obtaining SGA recognition.

Plans for future events

Dec 12th:
Credit Card presentation @ Leadership Training Institute, Kennedy HS ?/SPAN> cancelled.
Pushkar made the Power point presentation (thanks!)

Dec 16th reception at Center for Entrepreneurship: postponed to January by consensus. Tentative dates: Jan 14th ?15th. Prashant will be leading this activity. We will still do our business competition and give a money award in January to the December graduates with the help of SUSA.
Carolina will call the representatives from YABT to cancel.

Regina case: one of the ladies from the Center of Entrepreneurship is going through a difficult time after her house was destroyed by a fire. We are trying to help her in different ways, but for now we will be collecting GIFTS for her and her two children (one boy, one girl).

Jessi will collect the gifts in the undergraduate office on Wednesday from 11:00 to 1:30 pm and on Thursday from 10:30 to 2:00pm. Please help this family by donating clothes, toys, things for the home, etc. Prashant will give all gifts to Regina on Saturday.

Other December activities: Translations are finished but need to be put together and edited.

January activities

401k group: Get together and develop the project, materials and make contacts for presentations.

February activities
Tea House: Jessi presented her Marketing Strategy Report to the team. This strategy will be implemented in the months of February and March.

Website: Hoang and Li will work on the SIFE Team website.

Prashant presented a really interesting idea: The organization he is part of is going to develop a project to work with people in prison by providing entrepreneurial training. We all agreed we would like to be part of this project.

Recognitions and thank-you letter to Dr. Cleveland

A little award was given to the SIFE Team members in recognition for their effort and support throughout the semester. We also signed a thank-you letter to Dr. Cleveland.


Thanks everyone for making SIFE a reality in the University of Maryland. We will keep in touch during winter break.
