Outstanding junior and senior students are recognized each year for scholastic achievement and for their contribution to the department, college and university. The Department awards the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineering Student Honor Award and the Department of Bioengineering's Outstanding Junior and Senior Award.

ASABE Student Honor Award
   At the annual meeting of the ASAE in June 1949, delegates representing the student branches of ASAE expressed the desire that the Society establish an honor award in recognition of conspicuous student activity. The award was first granted in 1952.

Criteria
   General rules, eligibility rules, schedule of award points, and the official score sheet are available in Appendix 3 of the ASAE Student Manual. Biological Resources Engineering students who have been active in the local student branch (BRES) should complete the form in February and submit it to the BRES Advisor. Selection is based on the point system described in the ASAE Student Manual.

Award
   A certificate and honor keyholder are presented by ASAE to the recipient(s).


Outstanding Junior Award
   The faculty of the Department of Bioengineering select an outstanding engineering junior who is excelling in their college career in the combined areas of academic standing, service to the department, activities in student organizations, and service or activities in the community at large.

Criteria
   The selection will be based on the record presented by the student in the Student Vita form for the areas stated above. A faculty committee will make the selection based on the information provided by the student. Other information provided by the faculty or requested from other sources may be considered.

Award
   A plaque will be awarded to the recipient. The chair of the department sponsors the plaque.


Outstanding Senior Award
   The faculty of the Department of Bioengineering select an outstanding engineering senior who has excelled during their college career in the combined areas of academic standing, service to the department, activities in student organizations, and service or activities in the community at large.

Criteria
   The selection will be based on the record presented by the student in the Student Vita form for the areas stated above. A faculty committee will make the selection based on the information provided by the student. Other information provided by the faculty or requested from other sources may be considered.

Award
   A plaque will be awarded to the recipient. Faculty of the department sponsor the plaque.
