ABOUT THE CHAPTER

The UM SPIE/OSA Student Chapter is an officially recognized student chapter of both the Society of Photo-optical Instrumentation Engineers (SPIE) and the Optical Society of America. We are a student organization at the University of Maryland in College Park that is a dedicated liaison for students to the professional arena. We are committed to the pursuit of scientific progress and advocate interest in science and technology. It is our mission to encourage fellows students to reach their full potential so that they may exceed the boundaries of their classrooms. Our organization also helps stimulate future leaders and pioneers in the scientific community by providing opportunities to scholarships, awards and outreach activities.
