Tzedek is a intercollegiate
community service and social advocacy organization that works both on-
and off-campus. We are dedicated to raising awareness about
social issues while remaining dedicated to Jewish ideals. In the
past, we have taken measures to protest the genocide in Darfur, promote
sustainability and environmental conservatism, denounce racism, combat
hunger and homelessness, and raise AIDS awareness and funds for cancer
research. We are also dedicated to acts of public service.
Last year, Tzedek organized blood drives, clothing drives, canned
food drives, weekly nursing home visits, and a poker tournament to
raise money for children with Cystic Fibrosis. Ifyou are
interested, sign up for our listserve so you can receive monthly
e-mails about programs we are planning.
upcoming events:
A Heifer Hannukah!
For the week of Hannukah Tzedek
will be raising money to buy a cow! This is part of an
organization called Heifer International, an organizatin that donates
livestock to families around the world and trains them how to make a
living off of these animals. It helps improve nutrition and earn an
income for health care, shelter and an education for their children.
Each gift multiplies because every family that receives a Heifer animal
promises to “pass on the gift” by giving one or more of their animal’s
offspring and knowledge to another family in need.
